West Healing Arts Program workshops
Aromatherapy
Fragrances are an essential part of life and, as this basic 15-hour course
illustrates, a vital component of comprehensive relaxation massage therapy.
In addition to learning the benefits and techniques of using essential
botanical oils, you'll learn about the classification and chemistry of
various plants.
Introduction
to Polarity Therapy
In this 24-hour course, you'll learn a natural system of gentle touch
to promote physical, emotional and spiritual unity and healing. It's based
on the theory that the body has an energy pattern that serves as a blueprint
in healing itself when illness, injury or stress cause blockages in the
flow of life resources. Polarity therapy enables you to restore the body's
balance when it can't cope with these blockages on its own. You'll learn
acupressure points in the feet, hands, head and face so that you can provide
relaxation for even your most "wired" clients.
Reflexology
An eastern therapy based upon the principle that massaging points on the
feet or hands has a reflexive action on other parts of the body, such
as organs, glands and various tissues. This 21-hour workshop provides
you with another way to treat the body's problem areas, particularly in
cases where regular or deep pressure massage is contraindicated.
Shiatsu
I
This 20-hour hands-on workshop provides a more detailed look at the mechanisms
and designs of classical Japanese finger pressure massage therapy. You
will draw the twelve meridians and locate a number of major acupressure
points on one another and then discuss their therapeutic significance.
Also, you'll learn a very simple, yet effective, neck and shoulder release.
Shiatsu
II
This 20-hour course provides an introduction to ancient acupressure massage
therapy that accesses the body's bio-energies. You will learn the twelve
meridians and methods for treating the back, front, face, feet and hands
as your own hands develop a healing memory.
