Advanced Chair Massage Advanced Chair refreshes your basic chair techniques while adding an additional spin to just common chair massage programs. The class embodies the full foundation of not only performing chair massage, but also running your own business. You will learn advanced stretches, pressure point techniques, Myofascial release, and much more. Discover your clientele market. Marketing and advertising ideas will be offered and personal communication skills enhanced. Know how to incorporate chair massage into corporate wellness programs: including cost negotiation, package deals, holiday programs, and events.

Participants should wear loose, comfortable clothing. Please bring pencil, paper, notebook, lotion or oil, and a chair if you own one. Samples and handouts will be provided.

Prerequisite: Basic Chair Massage

Basic Chair Massage This type of technique refers to a brief massage therapy session, usually acupressure-based, done in a special chair in which the client sits facing toward the cushions. Sessions may last between five and thirty minutes. Because clients remain fully clothed and a session takes less time than full table massage, it has become a popular way to introduce the general public to the benefits of professional massage.

This class will educate you on proper chair use, function, and purchasing. As a participant you will also learn how to apply basic chair massage techniques as well as designing routines ranging from five minutes to thirty minutes. In addition, receive a brief introduction to SOAP charting for chair massage and some simple steps to marketing and advertising your newfound addition to your practice.

Participant should wear loose, comfortable clothing. Please bring pencil, paper, notebook, and lotion or oil. Samples and handouts will be provided.

Cancer Massage In this six-hour class, you'll learn about the different types and stages of cancer, how they are treated and their psychological impact. In addition to enhancing your own understanding of cancer-related massage, you'll also learn techniques that you can teach your clients.
Ear Candling Workshop This ancient practice is a natural and non-intrusive alternative that may help alleviate the painful effects of chronic headaches or sinus conditions, ear infections, and minor hearing loss due to excessive cerumen, allergies or vertigo. This soothing process is performed utilizing hollow candles made from beeswax. In this class you will learn how to safely and effectively apply this technique in your every day practice.

Participants will need to bring four ear candles (available in our school store), a set of sheets, one hand towel, one large towel, a small bowl, four paper plates, and scissors. Handouts will be provided. You may wish to bring pen and paper as well.

Ear Reflexology Ear reflexology references to the reflex maps on the outer ears. Instead of using acupuncture needles, lasers, injections, and other medical implements that only licensed medical practitioners can use legally, this technique utilizes stones, magnets, and specific touch techniques applied to the outer ear, to help the different parts of the body relax so that all parts function better, thus helping the body to better heal itself. Students will walk away with a basic understanding of reflex points and zones for the ears. Training includes a basic warm-up sequence, a general ear reflexology routine, and advanced reflex techniques.

Participants will need to bring 1 large pillow with pillowcase, one set of sheets, massage lotion, a blanket, pen and paper, and colors. Handouts, samples, and other supplies will be provided.

Headaches The soft tissues that often contribute to the discomfort and misery of headache pain can be treated successfully with appropriate massage therapies. In this course, you'll develop skill in specific methods useful for dealing with the cervical and cranial muscles in providing relief for headache sufferers.
Hot Stone Massage Therapy Check out this highly popular, cool way to build your practice and your profitability. You'll learn the benefits of stone therapy along with the principles and Chakra centers of this energetic modality. The class provides all you need to know in order to offer your clients a full massage sequence using hot stones.
Infant Massage This six-hour multimedia class discusses therapy techniques that enable you to provide a holistic, natural massage that promotes infant growth and development while strengthening the parent-child bond. You'll learn how massage can prevent or alleviate certain medical problems and also when not to massage. Books and handouts will be provided at no extra cost. You'll have hands-on practice using dolls, so bring a favorite doll if you like (please don't bring your child).
Infant Massage Instructor Certification This 6 hour CE course will help you refresh your infant massage skills and enable you to direct parents and guardians on how to perform infant massage. Learn the importance of listening and crying cues. Learn lesson planning and business marketing. Learn to work along side of doulas, pediatricians, specialists, and obstetricians.

Supplies needed: large pillow, small receiving blanket, unscented lotion or oil, pen and paper.

Prerequisite: Infant Massage.

Introduction to Hand Reflexology Learn how to provide the healing powers of Reflexology when a focus on the foot is contraindicated or when you want to add something more to your basic routine. Students will walk away with a basic understanding of reflex points and zones for the hand. Training includes a basic warm-up sequence, right and left hand techniques, and advanced reflex stimulation.

Participants need to bring two hand towels, lotion or oil, pen and paper, and colors (ie. Crayons, markers, coloring pencils). Handouts, samples, and other supplies will be provided.

Labor and Postpartum Massage Prenatal massage is a wonderful gift to offer to any expecting mom, but what happens when it comes time for the delivery? Who is there after the labor process to help mom to cope and manage new physical and emotional stressors?

As a student you will learn to provide a continual care plan for mommy to be through labor and postpartum massage. Labor massage provides an emotional support that relieves anxiety, and the valuable pain control it offers leads to a more relaxed and assuring labor process. You will also learn postpartum care techniques that helps the mother’s body return to pre-pregnancy functioning by addressing structural imbalances, rehabilitating skin, muscles, and organs, and by reducing pain. It also can alleviate the strain of carrying and caring for a newborn child.

Participants should bring four large pillows, one set of sheets, a blanket, unscented lotion or oil, two small hair combs, pen, paper, and notebook. Handouts and samples will be provided.

Prerequisite: Prenatal Massage

Lymph Massage Lymphatic massage uses a flat hand technique with circular, wave-like movements along lymph nodes. These subtle manual movements help re-circulate the lymphatic flow, activate fluid circulation and stimulate the functioning of the immune and parasympathetic nervous systems. Draining this fluid system detoxifies and regenerates tissues, filters out toxins and excess water, breaks down cellulite, maintains a healthy immune system and slows down the aging process. Experience has shown that it is not only for ill patients; lymph massage is also a perfect technique for helping clients to maintain health and improve the beauty of the skin.

In this class students will learn how to apply lymphatic massage techniques in a variety of situations, including spa and resort body treatments, facials, sports massage, deep tissue massage and more.

Participants should bring one set of sheets, pen, paper, and a notebook. Handouts will be provided.

Medication and Massage This class will enable you to have a basic understanding of the dangerous effects possible when providing massage therapy services in combination with persons utilizing prescription and OTC drugs. You will learn the most common drug interactions and how to assess their possible effect.

Participants should bring a pen, paper, and notebook. Handouts will be provided.

Myofascial Massage Therapy: The Pelvic Girdle Myofascial Massage Therapy: The Pelvic Girdle

This is an efficacious way to work with clients who experience soft tissue pain, stiffness and discomfort. In this 6-hour course, you'll learn how to free chronically tense soft tissues in the pelvic girdle. You'll also enhance your body mechanics while learning effective hand and forearm strokes.
Myofascial Massage Therapy: The Shoulder Girdle As with the workshop Myofascial Massage Therapy workshop for the pelvic girdle, this 6-hour course covering the shoulder girdle provides the training you need to improve your expertise in cutting-edge massage therapy techniques.
Pre-Natal Massage Massage during pregnancy focuses on the special needs of the mother-to-be as her body goes through the dramatic changes. It is a fast-growing field in the United States that has attracted the interest of labor and delivery nurses, nurse-midwives, childbirth educators and obstetricians. Massage therapy enhances the function of muscles and joints, improves circulation and general body tone, and relieves mental and physical fatigue. As a student of this class you will learn a variety of beneficial techniques for the mother to be, including Deep Tissue and Myofascial Techniques, Aromatherapy safety, and Acupressure Therapy. You will also learn how to network with a variety of health care professionals in order to enhance your own private practice.

Participants should bring four large pillows, one set of sheets, a blanket, unscented lotion or oil, pen, paper, and notebook. Handouts and samples will be provided.

Repetitive Movement Injuries - Upper Extremities This course deals with a number of different soft tissue problems, including carpal tunnel syndrome, tendonitis, tenosynovitis, tennis elbow and golfer's elbow. You'll enhance your massage therapy competency for working with clients who present these injuries.

The holidays can be an exciting time. Give your business a cutting edge with this six-hour class. Learn how to introduce holiday treatments with minimal expenses and lots of fun. Your clients will want to come back every weekend to experience: a peppermint body glow, cinnamon-apple body gommage, a pumpkin facial, and a creamy shea butter body wrap. Come and join the fun.

You will need to bring two sets of sheets, three large towels, four hand towels, a bathing suit, or shorts and a tank top, two washcloths, and paper and pen. All products and other supplies will be provided.

Spa Therapy -
Chocolate Decadence
This exciting new class is not only fun, but also a great way to enhance your business profits, especially during the holidays. Learn a new way to offer your clients a guilt-free way to enjoy the decadence of chocolate, without the calories! Don’t eat it…wear it!

This class will teach you how to provide a results-oriented facial with all the steps of a European cleansing facial laced with chocolate delights throughout. Next you will learn a fun way to help your client indulge in a sensory extravaganza of an anti-oxidant rich chocolate body treatment. This treatment consists of a full body application of chocolate fondue body wrap, face, neck and scalp massage during the wrap, followed by an application of hydrating body milk. Help your clients eliminate excess body fluids, which result in a smoother, firmer and more balanced skin tone.

Participants should wear comfortable clothing that they don’t mind getting a little messy. Please bring two sets of sheets, thermal blanket or sleeping bag, two large bath towels, four hand towels, one small bowl, one medium bowl, paper, and pen.

Supplementary Swedish Techniques Need more professional growth? Need a new repertoire?

Some creative new and advanced Swedish techniques to extend your knowledge base? This exciting, fun and educational class will help you to create a more detailed Swedish massage with many new techniques to integrate with your current bodywork modalities. Some of the well renowned techniques from Gertrude Beard and Frances Tappan will be taught.

This 6 hour CE class will give you the ability to choose from a variety of full body Swedish techniques to expand your knowledge, hence your session length without repetition.

You will need to bring a set of fitted and flat sheets along with lotion or oil and a pen and paper to take notes.

Table Thai Bring the hottest trend in the industry to the massage table. This introductory course will leave you understanding the basics of Thai Massage with a twist. You will learn a full body routine that you can perform in your own practice without the expense of additional equipment and supplies. Training manuals provided.
TMJ Disorder The pain and discomfort associated with TMJ disorder can be exceptionally responsive to skillful massage therapy. In this course, you'll learn how to work precisely with masticatory muscles inside and outside the mouth.
